Natural settings - the jewel in Osona’s crown
On foot or by bicycle, for a day or for a week, in spring, autumn, summer or winter... however you like, the best way to get to know an area is to lose oneself in the midst of its forests, falling in love with its landscapes or discovering unexplored spots amongst its paths.

In Osona we are well aware of this, which is why we offer you all the scenic richness of our natural areas: Les Guilleries Savassona Nature Area, the Montseny Nature Reserve, the Castell de Montesquiu Park. Nature at your fingertips!

When talking about Osona, what comes to mind is one of Catalonia's benchmark Nature Reserves: the Montseny Nature Reserve. Located in the South of the region, this is the ideal place for taking long walks beneath the oak or beech trees, and enjoying a beautiful natural spectacle.

The Park is notable for the variety of its flora and fauna, and has been recognised as a Biosphere Reserve since 2011 and accredited with the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (ECST), a management tool promoted by Europarc, used to ensure that tourism in the park will develop in a way compatible with conservation in the area. Montseny is known for its delicious products, such as the Viladrau Chestnut, which you can learn about, along with the history and characteristics of the Park in the Montseny Area.

For its spectacular landscapes, with the cliffs of Tavertet and Sau and Susqueda marshes, the Guilleries Savassona Nature Area all well worth stopping for on your route through Osona. You can follow it by tracing the footsteps of Jacint Verdaguer, the writer and poet who was born and lived in nearby Folgueroles. In addition, we encourage you to immerse yourself in his history at the Verdaguer Museum House.

In Les Guilleries Savassona you will fall in love with its spectacular vantage points, such as Salt de la Minyona, and steep yourselves in Catalan culture by following the Camí Oliba, a perfect Romanesque art route for enjoying 2018, the centenary of Abat Oliba.

The magic continues with the Montesquiu Castle Park, one of the areas of Osona that has been preserved in its wildest state as a result of being located in a region with few inhabitants. Take advantage of the opportunity for outings beneath the beech trees, walking with your family and friends and enjoying the banks of the meandering River Ter. We’re looking forward to welcoming you to Osona’s natural areas!
