Discover the Oliba Trail in its millennium year!
Osona has a host of excursions during the summer months that will provide an opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture and history of the area.
One of the most interesting of these, and one that you will help you learn about various historical episodes, is the Oliba Trail, a multi-stage route which crosses the regions of Bages, Osona and Ripollès until it reaches the Pyrenees, following all the while in the footsteps of the Abbot Oliba.

We encourage you to do it this year, as part of the millennium celebrations of the appointment of Obiba as Bishop of Vic. This route will allow you to learn, at your own pace, about some of the most emblematic places in Catalunya Vella, filled with some of the most renowned works of the Catalan Romanesque style.

The trail begins in Montserrat and follows the GR-151 in half-day stages that are ideal for walking as a family or with small children. The route is noticeably undemanding and is a very interesting way of discovering the landscapes of Catalonia’s interior and medium mountain ranges. In addition, along the way you’ll come across places where you can stay or have a bite to eat.

One of the most interesting features of the Oliba Trail is without doubt its cultural and artistic side. Take advantage of the trip to visit the monastery of Sant Pere de Casserres, a jewel of Catalan Romanesque architecture, Vic Cathedral or the city of Vic’s historic centre. We’re looking forward to seeing you!
